The Story Behind Shoreline Dad

The “Pack Mule” Epiphany

I’ve spent the last 25 years as a dedicated beachgoer, but my real “education” started when I became a father. Living in Hawai’i, the beach isn’t just a vacation destination for my family: it’s our backyard. We are there several days a week with our toddler, our 8-year-old, and our grandchildren.

But even with two decades of experience, I found myself hitting a wall.

I’ve spent too many mornings trudging through the sand acting as a “pack mule,” realizing halfway to the water that I’d brought way too much of the wrong stuff and not enough of the things we actually needed. I’ve watched expensive “beach” gear fall apart under the pressure of real coastal conditions, and I’ve fought with bulky, heavy items that made a day of relaxation feel like a cross-fit workout as I struggled to carry these products across the hot sand.

Tested in the Pacific. Proven for Your Family.

I started Shoreline Dad because I got tired of wasting time, money, and effort on products that didn’t perform.

When you live on an island, the salt, sun, and sand don’t play around. If a product can’t survive a Hawai’i beach day, it doesn’t belong in your trunk. Whether you are a veteran beachgoer or a first-timer taking your kids to the water for the first time, I want you to have the gear that works safely, effectively, and with ease.

The Shoreline Dad Promise

I’m not a professional “influencer” trying to sell you the trendiest chair. I’m a dad and a grandfather who obsesses over the details so you don’t have to.

I review gear based on three non-negotiables:

  1. Can a dad carry it easily? (Usually while carrying a toddler).
  2. Will it survive the salt and sand? (No more broken handles or rusted hinges).
  3. Does it actually keep the family content? (Because a comfortable family is a happy family).

My mission is to help you master the beach without the struggle, so you can focus on what actually matters: making memories with your kids in the waves.
